The Citizen

11 Sep

Today marks a big day in history for Americans and the rest of the world. Unfortunately a very sadden one. I was asked by one of my closest friends last year if I wanted to be an extra in her husband’s upcoming film you can read more about him here which will premiere next week at the Boston Film Festival. At first I was hesitant and I asked her about the story line. She explained it was about a Lebanese/Arab man who arrives in New York City a day before 9/11 on a U.S. green card lottery, and the rest is history, I was convinced. I knew this film would be political, based on true events, and would involve culture which are exactly the types of films I enjoy watching. I never thought about being an extra in a film before, but if ever given the opportunity the film would have to have a purpose behind it, and something I could relate on a very deep level in which I can because my husband is Lebanese American. Eleven years later we still discuss the after math it has left for him and the rest of Arab Americans and Americans in general.

I am looking forward to watching the upcoming film. The experience was wonderful I now have a better understanding of what goes behind making a film. I was part of the court scene which was a two-day event and took place in the beautiful Masonic Temple in Detroit Michigan the largest Masonic Temple in the world, another hidden jewel Pure Michigan has to offer.

I hope you all have the opportunity to watch the film, I am extremely convinced it will be well worth it,
