City Girl

7 Nov

Happy Hump Day Lovelies,

I recently had to drop off some jewelry at the Detroit Artist Market (DAM) for their upcoming holiday market (Art For The Holidays Show) and I decided to go for a city look.

I can’t think of anything lovelier then wearing 100% cashmere wide leg trousers.

Fedora – J.Crew, Blouse – United Colors of Benetton, Clutch – La Regale, Cashmere Trousers – Pure Amici, Nail Polish – Loreal (breaking curfew) Booties – Ann Taylor Loft

Until next time friends,

Essential Traveling Attire

4 Oct

Happy Thursday Jewels,

I am visiting my family in California this week and because I fly from Michigan to California several times a year I pretty much have mastered the traveling process.

I like to travel with my thick outdoor Burberry Scarf because I could use it as a blanket while I am flying if need be, plus it smells like my perfume which is much better then the blankets they give you on the plane it will also come in handy when I fly back home as the weather is very unpredictable this time of the year.

I also like to travel with my Ray Ban Aviators so that I don’t have to worry about my eye make-up when I land, however my lipstick is another story I always make sure I have it my purse to put on when I land, it literally brightens my face. I especially like a darker lipstick because red can be somewhat overbearing. I also like to travel with an open bag like this Wilshire Louis Vuitton it is big enough to hold all my essentials. My navy blue Banana Republic blazer becomes a staple for many of my looks, and a silk tank underneath in case I get hot I can take the blazer off silk tank: CHACOK.

My black skinnies by Paige are super comfortable and although I am wearing jeans since they are black they tend to look dressier, and last but not least my Cole Haan loafers in their Italian collections, I literally feel like I am wearing my house slippers and I can’t imagine wearing anything not comfortable while I am traveling, one thing I hate is to be uncomfortable because I become miserable, and no one likes to be around a miserable person.

I hope you find these tips useful for your next travels.

Off to the airport,
Monica

Fall Essentials

3 Oct

Happy Hump Day Jewels,

Take a look at my fall essentials that I added to my wardrobe.

Leopard pumps from Banana Republic.

This season this seems to be the top that is complimenting many of my skirts and pants, I literally want to wear it everyday. Navy blue sweater with an attached scarf with cherries: Tory Burch

Of course I had to get a bag in this season’s color: burgundy by Dona Karen New York (DKNY).

If you have been following our blog you know how we feel about our lipstick, and it was essential to buy it in burgundy. Lipstick: Flirt – Sinful.

I like to dress my table according to seasons as much as I like to play dress-up. I had to get this cute rustic wheel barrow for salt at Pottery Barn the last time I was in there, it brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. I am a sucker for little charming things.

I can’t wait to share photos with you all wearing my new pieces I added to my wardrobe.

Until next time,
Monica

Essential: Girl-Getaway

19 Sep

Happy Wednesday Lovelies,

Part of living a well-balanced life includes investing in healthy relationships that are genuine, help us grow to become better people, challenges and all. My bff treated me this summer to a Girl-Getaway in Chicago during the week which I especially enjoyed because I am not a fan of weekend crowds. We had the time of our life. We did the essentials girls love to do, shopped until we dropped, happy hours, hair treatments, etc., but the most of important part of it all was that we spent quality time together, and here are a couple of things we enjoyed while in Chicago.

Lunch at Mimi’s Cafe

The skyscrapers of course

Leaving a store without purchasing anything which rarely happens.(please excuse the red eyes we used an iphone to take the photos and removing the red-eye turns them grey and I don’t have grey eyes although it would be nice).

Garden art

And drinks at Howl At The Moon after hair treatments, and wearing our new blouses we purchased that same day because we couldn’t wait to wear them. My friend’s style is very flirty resort which I could never pull off. I keep telling her she is living in the wrong state and needs to move to Florida, but if she did I would probably follow.

I am truly blessed to have such a great friend(s) it is essential for me to make time for them, now if I could only do a girl getaway more often.

Until next time,
Monica

Metallic and White

4 Sep

Hello there Jewels,

I am a fan of metallic and white and I decided to combine them. Unfortunately, I can’t pull off a pure white as well as I can pull off the winter white (which is more of an ivory) you see in the stores after Labor Day.

I decided to wear this skirt before I start having to wear it with tights.

Sunnies: Tory Burch similar here/ blouse via TJ Maxx/ Lipstick Soft Coral-Bobbi Brown similar here/ skirt UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON (I absolutely love this brand, they use real zippers unlike other brands that use flimsy zippers)/ heels L.A.M.B./ Clutch LA Regale/ Jewels essentjewls

Thank you for stopping by,
Monica

A Magnificent Night and My Blue Suede Shoes

3 Sep

Happy Labor Day Lovelies,

I recently had the opportunity to see the Gipsy Kings in concert at the Fox Theater in Down Town Detroit known as the crown jewel. The night was full of passion and suave-ness. Take a peek.

The Gipsy Kings are extremely vivacious considering that they have been around for sometime. I would see them again in a heartbeat if giving the opportunity. They had me dancing off my feet along with the rest of the crowd. The audience consisted of beautiful people wearing their Sunday’s best which is why I decided to wear my blue suede shoes, they are more of a navy blue why I specially like them.

Blue Suede Shoes: DVF similar in black and other colors here. DVF has recently become one of my favorite brands, it’s edgy, feminine, and designed with exceptional quality which is exactly what I look for in shoes and clothes. With the shoes it was essential to color block to make them stand out similar here.

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse of my magnificent night and my blues suede shoes.

Until next time,
Monica

Eclectic Attic

23 Aug

Hello there Precious Pearls,

Most of us shop at them, you know the places where we find our little hidden jewels, “consignment stores.” My favorite is “Eclectic Attic in Plymouth Michigan.”

As soon as I walk in my heart begins to pump faster because I have no idea what I will leave with. I don’t feel like this about many places.

They carry the essentials; contemporary pieces, as well as one of kind vintage couture which is where I stop first.

One of the many vintage dresses I have purchased, and another one here for about $30.00.

And of course they carry accessories, i.e., genuine designer sunglasses, genuine watches, genuine hand bags, etc., I didn’t purchase these glasses there, but they carry the real deal.

But one of the reasons why this is my favorite consignment store is because they also carry antique furniture, and paintings. This place very much lives up to its name. The owner is extremely helpful, personable, and looks as if she would work for Vogue, with her defined features, red lipstick, and shiny black bob. She very much tempts me into cutting my hair into a bob again.

I have rarely left without a purchase.

Jewels, where do you shop for those hidden jewels? We would love to know so that if we ever make it to your neck of the woods we know where to shop?

Until next time,
Monica
