Still in: Stripes

30 Jan

Hello Lovelies,

Stripes are not going anywhere this season and this winter I am wearing them with my brightest garments to get me out of the rut from this gloomy gray winter, although the last couple of days have felt more like spring in the upper 50s-60s not bad for winter in the MI.

Glitter, Cheetah And Polka Dots

22 Jan

Hi friends!

This weekend I was doing a bit of research online, magazines, and bit of window shopping for inspiration for new designs. Trust me, you will go bananas, I was inspired by classic pieces your used to seeing: Cow hide; abalone, and stones, but just like we said before, we love to keep our style classic but giving it a little unexpectedness and asymmetry is what makes us over the top ecstatic. Stay tuned!

I’m finally getting around to organizing and designing my home office. Once it’s complete, I’ll be sure to show before and after pictures. If you have any ideas or links to help me decide on my decor please send them my way. I’m thinking clean crisp and modern. To give you a better idea my walls are a Tiffany blue color. I’ll be getting a brown and white cow area rug shortly!!!!:)

Hope you enjoy my glam with a hint of edge look. I wore this for a Christmas Party. Take a peek!

Fox Fur

9 Jan

Hello Jewels,

One of the first essentials I bought when I moved to Michigan from California was a coat(s), fur coats, a red coat, a green, etc., while I lived in California I was able to get away with jackets all year-long, however when I moved to Michigan it was a different story.

After the holidays probably the only thing that gets me through winter is being able to wear my coats, I can’t think of anything more chic then a great-coat.

Essential: Tailored Suit

5 Dec

Happy Hump Day Lovelies,

We all should own one, you know the one that makes you feel like you landed the job. Whether slacks or a skirt suit, we all need one. The rule is which ever is the most flattering to your body type, which is why I chose the skirt.  Skirts and dresses are always more flattering on me because I am very narrow, and being narrow gives the illusion of longer legs, as do nude heels or leopard as both are very neutral.

I have worn my suit to interviews, training conferences, and through out the blog,  only I combine it with different garments.

Fall Layering

3 Dec

Don’t be afraid of color  during the fall. You would be surprised how many people appreciate color during the season and you mustn’t be shy about layering and mixing patterns.  If layering, keep one article of clothing fitted, either the upper or lower waist and you will be safe. I posted some layering photos giving you a better idea of how to balance the look without looking frumpy.

Take a peek.

Black and Gold

Happy Monday Gorgeous Gems,

As mentioned in Friday’s post that I had a wedding to attend to yesterday, and for the event I decided to wear this little number.

My husband is Lebanese and Michigan has one of the largest Lebanese/Arab if not the largest communities in the country. Their community is very united which means we attend a wedding at least once or a couple of times a year and would you believe that I was somewhat under-dressed! Yes, the LBD will not cut it at these events. Women wear gowns, and have their hair and make-up done, it’s like prom all over again. Only I won’t bring myself to buy a $600.00 gown that I will only wear once because a lot of time you see the same people, and there is no way you can be caught in the same dress at another wedding.

I know I will be wearing this little number come the holidays.

Sunglasses: Tory Burch similar here, dress Adam Lippes (Clients of this designer Oprah Winfrey, Kelly Ripa) stilettos Micheal Kors, clutch La Regale.

Stay tuned for pictures of the event.

Until next time,
Monica

Eclectic Attic

23 Aug

Hello there Precious Pearls,

Most of us shop at them, you know the places where we find our little hidden jewels, “consignment stores.” My favorite is “Eclectic Attic in Plymouth Michigan.”

As soon as I walk in my heart begins to pump faster because I have no idea what I will leave with. I don’t feel like this about many places.

They carry the essentials; contemporary pieces, as well as one of kind vintage couture which is where I stop first.

One of the many vintage dresses I have purchased, and another one here for about $30.00.

And of course they carry accessories, i.e., genuine designer sunglasses, genuine watches, genuine hand bags, etc., I didn’t purchase these glasses there, but they carry the real deal.

But one of the reasons why this is my favorite consignment store is because they also carry antique furniture, and paintings. This place very much lives up to its name. The owner is extremely helpful, personable, and looks as if she would work for Vogue, with her defined features, red lipstick, and shiny black bob. She very much tempts me into cutting my hair into a bob again.

I have rarely left without a purchase.

Jewels, where do you shop for those hidden jewels? We would love to know so that if we ever make it to your neck of the woods we know where to shop?

Until next time,
Monica
