Gloomy Gray

20 Dec

Happy Thursday Jewels,

One reason I love gloomy gray weather is because I can wear a lot of my favorite accessories such as scarfs, tights, boots, etc…

I had this sweater dress for many years and I love how simple it is because I can accessorize it differently giving it a new look, sometimes I wear it from front to back like I did here.

Cashmere Sweater Dress – bebe, Earrings – essentjewels here, Sunnies – Burberry, lips – Lancome (377N Midnight Rose) Polish – essie blue rhapsody here, scarf (old) – no name, Leather Cross-body Bag – Coach, bracelet – essentjewels here, Tights – J.Crew here, booties – Coach (last season)

Until next time,

Down Town

26 Jul

Hello Jewels,

On occasion I head down town Detroit with my husband for lunch with his colleagues which is a privilege for me because one of his colleagues is an art connoisseur with a vast collection in his office and his home. I was eager to speak to him about our tradeshow experience and our market such as bed & breakfasts, wineries and in particular museums and one being the Flint Institute of Art, heading down town for me has recently turned into a dressing up occasion since on most days I dress very casual.

Can you tell I am from Michigan with all the American cars, we Michiganders love to support American cars.

Wayfarer: Ray-Ban, Navy Blue Blazer, Banana Republic, Leather Belt J.Crew, Bird Blouse H&M, Pencil Skirt, J.Crew, Grey Patent Leather Flats Coach, Bag Coach, Jewels essentjewels.

Until next time,

American Girl

10 Jul

Hello there Jewels,

I hope you are all off to an excellent Tuesday.

It used to be that I would wake up to an 8-5 dressing up in a pencil skirts, polo shirts, dresses, slacks, etc., now a days I am enjoying what we Americans do best wear jeans. Yes, we know we Americans love to wear jeans, why not, we make the best ones. I have had these jeans for seven years and they get better with time my friends.

Chambray: grand & greene, everyone should have one of these in their wardrobe.

I am such a fan of gold cuffs and pearls: essentjewels, and I especially like to wear them combined, this is actually a two strand pearl bracelet, and I added my vintage wire Gucci watch in between. I guess you are all getting the hint that my style is very classic, but don’t be surprised if you see me in a post wearing something very modern, and by modern I mean futuristic especially when it comes to shoes, the edgier the better.

Awe, just saw one of my favorite persons over the weekend my hair dresser, not only does he do an excellent job with my hair, he entertains, and makes me laugh. I absolutely cannot live without him. I don’t know what I would do if I moved. I have been seeing him for six years now since I moved to Michigan. He knows exactly what I want every time I see him, which doesn’t change, but if it works for me why break it right? Loafers: Coach

My polish for the 4th red, white, blue, I did my part of being patriotic.

Jeans: AG, super comfy and I love the fit, they are feeling a little snug on me lately I better watch it, us petite people have to really watch what we eat, a couple of pounds is like 20 pounds for the average person.

And a dainty necklace is all I needed to complete this classic look: sweet essentjewels, and of course I had to wear this with my aviator Ray-bans.

I hope you are all off to a fanatic week, and thank you for visiting us.

With love,

5 Jul

Hello there Lovely Ladies,

I hope you all had a spectacular 4th of July. I saw the most amazing show of fireflies in a 5 archer forest, and boy did they put on a show, unfortunately I could not take pictures as it was too dark. I was very disappointed as it was the best firework show that I have ever seen.

As mentioned in a previous post here that I recently attended the Pablo Picasso art exhibit in Toronto Canada and for the trip I packed some of my funkiest artsy dresses of course because I was artistically inspired. Earrings essentjewels.

Nothing new about the one-shoulder dress only this one I really liked the print, and pockets and I knew I would be wearing this little number to some artsy occasion. Dress: BCBG

Belt: J.Crew, J.Crew has the best belts, I own about six. Does J.Crew go wrong with anything?

Princes of Wales Theater I’m definitely coming back here some day for entertainment.

Taking pictures at night is extremely challenging because of the lights.
Wristlet Coach, and heels: kate spade.

I had to take a picture of this spiky puffer fish at the restaurant we had dinner at as my husband was walking away.

This must be the Canada Star of Fame and what do you know Pamela Andersen.

If you haven’t been to Toronto I hope you have the opportunity to, it is acclaimed as the most International city.

Thank you for stopping by my lovely friends and hope you enjoyed my little tour around Toronto,

Keeping it Chic With The Other Boyfriend and Middle Eastern Pastries

29 May

Hello Jewels,

For my date with the other boyfriend I wanted to keep it simple and chic, because I did not want him to think I was trying too hard.

The other boyfriend: Boyfriend Blazer in navy blue Banana Republic, belt J.Crew, shorts, H&M.

Aviators: Ray-Bans, moccasins Coach, these are almost as comfortable as my Cole Haan with Nike Air.

The date with the other boyfriend consisted of over indulging with Middle Eastern Pastries at my favorite Middle Eastern pastry shop Shatila and of course I always get overwhelmed about their selection because I want everything!

But we always get the usual: The Egyptian Nabulseya Coarse because it is warm, drizzled with crumbled pistachios and oozing  melting cheese (I could so have some now)!!!

Middle Eastern pastries are all about pistachios, which means we never pass up the pistachio ice-cream.

I  am a big fan of Cannolis and I had been tempted before to try the Middle Eastern version of the Cannoli. I was so curious that I didn’t use the fork or knife, (please don’t be disappointed) it was not bad, but I will stick to my usual: Nabulseya Coarse.

And that was my date with the other boyfriend, shhh please don’t tell my husband.

Necklace: chic, by essentjewels.

Until next time my friends,

When Grey

14 May

When it is grey out.

Wear flowers in your hair.

Walk your dog with her brightest sweater.

Wear your clothes from front to back.

Watch for bird blessings.

And pat yourself on the back because you know it is going to be alright.

Grey cashmere sweater dress: bebe, (now that I am in my mid 30s I stopped buying from bebe, but when I found out they started selling cashmere I was in there in no time) bracelet grace, and my best accessory Mocha my dog, (my husband is going to kill me for referring to her as an accessory, but she literally gets all the attention).

Purse: Coach, and flower in my hair J.Crew which I occasionally wear on my blazers. I love accessories that serve multiple purposes.

A Robin watching over her chicks greeted us this morning. One thing I learned from our Dad was to take time to smell the roses, and in his case it is the birds, he loves to bird watch. He and mom came out to visit me here in the MI from California a while back and I loved how much he appreciated the birds which I appreciated from him, thank you Dad and thank you God for reminding me that you are watching over me and for Mocha not going after her! We would like for her to remain our neighbor for a couple of days.

Ankles Booties: Coach, I love these, but “Coach I wish you wouldn’t manufacture these with leather on the heels, and would have used wood instead, I have damaged several of your boots because of the leather on the heels.”

And necklace from our upcoming line: Rose Pedals

Why They Call Grey The New Black

1 May

Grey is seductive, sophisticated, and professional, it doesn’t stand out, but yet does; it comes in different shades (unlike black) that look great when worn together.

Cashmere sweater dress: bebe. In the fall I like to wear it with a solid mustard yellow scarf, and in the winter a solid rosy lavender scarf, (and of course my Lollipop red wool coat) but I did without a scarf today because I really wanted to put more emphasis on my essentjewels bling, from our new line: ‘iridescent’ earrings.

I hope the same rule does not apply to wearing cashmere in the spring as does not wearing white after Labor Day because I am feeling guilty about wearing cashmere in the spring. I have to confess I did wear my white skinny jeans this past winter a couple of times, hey Jackie O. did it, anyway, it is still cold here in the MI).

Feather light trench coat perfect for spring, (only my friends like to call it the cape) by Xiao yan oGin (and ladies it is made in the U.S.A.) I will take cape as it does make feel me fierce, feminine, and fantastic! I would say those are superhero characteristics. J.Crew charcoal grey tights, (little did I know that I would be pulling the tights out again) Coach ankle booties and Coach bag.

And all I needed was a pop-out nail polish by essie: lollipop.

And there you have it my friends, why they call the grey the new black.

Plaids Don’t Always Have to Be For The School Girls

26 Apr

Hi Jewels,

Don’t mind me, I love to people watch.

I love anything with plaids,(especially Burberry) but who can always afford Burberry right! So I settled for these plaid leggings from Orchid Lane who support the global fair trade community and who have been established since 1986, at least I can afford the sun glasses: Burberry.

Purse: Patent leather by Coach. I have been asked occasionally by several friends if I am willing to sell this purse, sorry my precious friends, but not this shiny jewel.

Cashmere cardigan J.Crew, one of my favorites because of the color and because of the softness which only cashmere can offer. The ring inherited: topaz, nail polish essie, Lollypop, and hair inspiration who other than the one and only Katy Perry from her “Teenage Dream Video.” I loved how in most of the video she went from sexy jungle women hair to a cute bun Audrey Hepburn style with bangs oh and so polished. And because the video took place in Santa Barbra and the Central Coast which is where we are from, and last because it so took me back to my “Teenage Dreams” when I was free of cares. Thank you Katy Perry, I watched this video over, and over, and will continue to for the simple pleasures of reliving my “teenage dreams” in my hometown!!!!

Omg, how did I forget to wear my favorite necklace with this get-up (well, they are all my favorite, but you know what I mean)? Oh well, I guess that means I have to wear this outfit again with this necklace, gosh I hate when that happens (yeah right I will come up with another way to mix it up).

Shoes: Joan David, this outfit so would have rocked if the shoes were Christian Louboutin,(CL) (one day). Not to change the subject, but did you know that he came up with idea of the red soles by accident, his employee was painting her nails red and accidentally got it on the sole of the shoe and the rest is history, genius right? I will never, ever, ever, ever, desire any other pair of shoes more!!! Thank you CL employee for making that happy mistake!

Hope you give the plaids a try as they don’t always have to be for school girls,

Sephora Essentials

22 Mar

After my outing to my doctor’s appointment I decided I deserved a little treat to Sephora. Walking into Sephora can be heaven for any cosmetic lover, but it can also be overwhelming because of all their choices! However, given my current circumstances has definitely simplified the process. I was in and out of the store with only the essentials: Bumble and Bumble styling lotion, and tarte smooth operator tinted moisturizer with SPF 20. I swear by these products. If you have fine hair and are looking for volume and protection from the heat essentials, you will not be disappointed. This styling lotion protects your hair without weighing it down, the product is practically water, yet it protects your hair and adds volume! The tarte smooth operator tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 is so silky smooth on your face that you forget you are wearing it. This little jewel I discovered while shopping for my vegan sister-in-law who only uses natural cosmetics. Great hair and great skin are what I consider the essentials for all things health and beauty.

Get-up for the outing: (I like to refer to what I wear as get-ups, because part of being feminine is having something beautiful to wear that motivates you to get-up!) Marc Jacob Sunglasses, Coach Madison purse, Industry teal shirt dress, belt J.CREW, and shoes by L.A.M.B.

Walking by chalk art and hopscotch on the sidewalks so confirmed that spring is here!

Results of using Bumble and Bumble styling lotion.
