Gloomy Gray

20 Dec

Happy Thursday Jewels,

One reason I love gloomy gray weather is because I can wear a lot of my favorite accessories such as scarfs, tights, boots, etc…

I had this sweater dress for many years and I love how simple it is because I can accessorize it differently giving it a new look, sometimes I wear it from front to back like I did here.

Cashmere Sweater Dress – bebe, Earrings – essentjewels here, Sunnies – Burberry, lips – Lancome (377N Midnight Rose) Polish – essie blue rhapsody here, scarf (old) – no name, Leather Cross-body Bag – Coach, bracelet – essentjewels here, Tights – J.Crew here, booties – Coach (last season)

Until next time,

Rain boots

15 Nov

Hello Friends!

A few days ago it began to rain here in L.A. and I was so excited because that meant I can wear my rain boots. In the past I had trouble figuring out what to wear them with until I came up with these few tips. Hopefully I inspire you. Take a peek!

Skinny Jeans

Just like the little black dress in every girls closet, skinny jeans are a must too! I like to pair my boots with skinnies, a over-sized sweater, tunic or a billowy blouse depending how cold it is. A light jean jacket a scarf and Viola!

Skirts & Dresses

Yes I know, imagining wearing rain boots and fun dresses may not be on the top of your but if balanced correctly can be a match made in heaven. The key is to balance the two extremes polished and relaxed and not to much of one.

When having a casual piece I immediately gravitate toward more of a sophisticated feel with a collard shirt, simple dainty accessories, avoiding patterns or keeping the color palette in neutral colors

Let’s face it! We all love leggings because they scream cozy! Not to mention I love how I can hide five pounds or so. To complete the look, pair with a collard long sleeve, over-sized cardigan and scarf.

Or take a peek at photos I picked for some inspiration.

These are my next victim!!

As always, Carolina xoxo

Back to School

22 Aug

Hello there Jewels,

It has been a while since I had to go back to school shopping and it was always a special occasion for us growing up. Our father had an annual meeting Labor Day weekend usually in the Northern part of California, or Nevada in Las Vegas, or Reno which is when we did most of our school shopping. My sister and I always made the best of it, and other times not so much.

Sister, if you were reading this you know what I am talking about “does the Sheraton Parking Lot in Concord California ring a bell?” If you are all wondering what it was, we were caught smoking by our mother who saw us from her hotel window and of course me being the older sister was blamed for it all. Omg, how embarrassing that was, we don’t smoke now, but you know how it is when you are growing up, you do it because you think it’s cool. Back to the school shopping, part of why I like going to school was dressing up every morning which is one of the reasons why I couldn’t have attended a private school because of the uniforms. However if I did I would hope it would include the Burberry plaids and Louise Vuitton.

My blouse actually has subtle polka-dots, I would have to have several print feminine blouses to mix with the plaids, it would be nice if they were the Burberry plaids, and of course my book bag would be by Louise Vuitton.

Sunnies: Tori Burch, polka-Dotted blouse: Forever 21 (old), belt J.Crew, skirt Burberry, flats Banana Republic, Bag Wilshire Monogram Louise Vuitton.

Until next time,

Good morning, good afternoon depending where you are Jewels,

I have to be honest, I am not much of a spring, summer gal. I enjoy wearing wool, cashmere, coats, scarves, etc., and I love neutrals, with splashes of colors here and there, dark nail polish, and one that I am really enjoying these days yellow.

I am looking forward to wearing neutrals this fall, prints, mixing prints of course, boots and scarves.

And my inspiration this year is from the Burberry Fall 2012 London/Fashion week, by all means I own one Burberry scarf, in not so much of their recognizable pattern, however I can work with what I have in my closet which we all so-called fashion bloggers do.

Loving the doggy on this last blouse.

With love,

Snake Skin and Cheetah Print

26 Jun

Hello there Gorgeous Gems,

After my Florida post I figured I would tone it down, also because the weather somewhat cooled off. I attempted this classic constantly trending combing animal prints and as if that was not enough I added the classic Burberry plaids. I am a big fan of plaids as mentioned in a previous post here. In theory fashion is about trending classics with a twist or with a slight update would you agree?

Loafers: Gucci in forest green which I consider essentjewel. These are what I call black heels because they play as black heels.

Cardigan: J.Crew I am obsessed with cardigans. I can never have enough of them in my closet.

Nail polish: essie no more film, I have a feeling I will be wearing this one a lot in the fall.

Snake skin dress: Ann Taylor. This dress takes me from ordinary to confident, don’t you love when a dress does that? If only I could wear it to an interview, kidding!

Earrings: twisted stones by essentjewels which you can find here currently an essenjewel for me, I am thinking they will remain an essentjewel not only currently.

The Burberry bag is very meaningful to me because it is one of the first things my hubby bought me, years ago and I didn’t select, he knows me too well. He knows I love the classics this was also very early on in our relationship (thank you honey).

Want-to-be Wayfarer: bungalow I need a genuine pair like yesterday, however these are not too shabby, bungalow does an awesome job about what they choose to carry in their store, as I walked in there I immediately felt a California vibe because of the music they were playing, and the ambiance. Lipstick by FlIRT wicked, how can you not buy a lipstick called wicked.

And pearl strand essentjewels eccentric you can find here, which lives up to its name, every time I combine a get-up that in my opinion is pretty eccentric, I add this simple pearl strand which is a lot of the time is all I need. For more of a youthful approach to the pearl strand wear it partially underneath the neckline of your top everyone knows it’s a pearl strand even when its partially showing.

Jewels, what are some classic combos or modern trends that you attempted and where surprised with the results?

Five Traveling Essentials

24 May

With Memorial Weekend around the corner it was essential to post about traveling essentials.

A durable weatherproof tote bag that will transform your comfy outfit from casual to chic: Burberry

Weatherproof hardside silhouette luggage unique enough to identify at baggage claim and also compliments your tote bag, this one is 28 inches in burgundy by Samsonite.

A travel jewelry bag with as many compartments as possible: J.Crew

A clear travel bag making it easy for security to view so that your beauty supplies aren’t ransacked.

Sephora Express Nail Polish Remover for when you have to change your nail polish. I have found this solution to remove my red polish pretty quickly, hence why it is called “Express” and it smells nice too.

Jewels, what are some travel essentials that we are missing? We would love to know so that we can make our travels as convenient as possible.

Thank you for stopping by,

Plaids Don’t Always Have to Be For The School Girls

26 Apr

Hi Jewels,

Don’t mind me, I love to people watch.

I love anything with plaids,(especially Burberry) but who can always afford Burberry right! So I settled for these plaid leggings from Orchid Lane who support the global fair trade community and who have been established since 1986, at least I can afford the sun glasses: Burberry.

Purse: Patent leather by Coach. I have been asked occasionally by several friends if I am willing to sell this purse, sorry my precious friends, but not this shiny jewel.

Cashmere cardigan J.Crew, one of my favorites because of the color and because of the softness which only cashmere can offer. The ring inherited: topaz, nail polish essie, Lollypop, and hair inspiration who other than the one and only Katy Perry from her “Teenage Dream Video.” I loved how in most of the video she went from sexy jungle women hair to a cute bun Audrey Hepburn style with bangs oh and so polished. And because the video took place in Santa Barbra and the Central Coast which is where we are from, and last because it so took me back to my “Teenage Dreams” when I was free of cares. Thank you Katy Perry, I watched this video over, and over, and will continue to for the simple pleasures of reliving my “teenage dreams” in my hometown!!!!

Omg, how did I forget to wear my favorite necklace with this get-up (well, they are all my favorite, but you know what I mean)? Oh well, I guess that means I have to wear this outfit again with this necklace, gosh I hate when that happens (yeah right I will come up with another way to mix it up).

Shoes: Joan David, this outfit so would have rocked if the shoes were Christian Louboutin,(CL) (one day). Not to change the subject, but did you know that he came up with idea of the red soles by accident, his employee was painting her nails red and accidentally got it on the sole of the shoe and the rest is history, genius right? I will never, ever, ever, ever, desire any other pair of shoes more!!! Thank you CL employee for making that happy mistake!

Hope you give the plaids a try as they don’t always have to be for school girls,
