Thursday Treat

31 Jan

Happy Thursday Jewels,

Usually my baked treats include something sweet, actually I like almost anything baked, I bought some Brussels Sprouts at the local Farmers Market and when I saw this recipe on Pinterest I had to give it a try.

I topped it off with parmesan cheese, and the best part was that they weren’t bitter, this has become one of my favorite side dishes.

Hope you give it a try,
Monica

Still in: Stripes

30 Jan

Hello Lovelies,

Stripes are not going anywhere this season and this winter I am wearing them with my brightest garments to get me out of the rut from this gloomy gray winter, although the last couple of days have felt more like spring in the upper 50s-60s not bad for winter in the MI.

Hello beautiful!

I’ll bring you back to grade school today. I have an obsession with stationary, anything glittery full of color, whimsical, bright, and girly I should be embarrassed for someone my age. But as mentioned before, age is an attitude!. Growing up I had drawers and buckets full of Lisa Frank and hello kitty and I still can’t break away from that little kitty. I only have hints of it here and there, I have toned it down since I got married. I know you’ve seen this chevron mosaic all around from home decor to the office. Yes it’s a bit trendy but super adorable.  I went to a boutique in Santa Barbara and completely fell in love with this notebook perfect to tote around only I wasn’t going to pay what they were asking for it. I ended up going to paper source another playground for me. I bought this pretty paper and voilà! Take a peek!

Skull And A Spike

28 Jan

The beginning of my weekend was a bit sad, I bought risotto some time ago waiting for the perfect evening to cook it and I like to think I’m pretty good in the kitchen for an amateur chef. It’s been a while since I made a dish which took 3 hours and 18 minutes to make and to end it by not having the texture I’m accustomed to.  Although the flavor was a hit the texture was a miss. While in Italy I had an endless amount of risotto and I was eager to make it hoping it would whisk us back to our great Italian memories, but I was let down. Not so fast Mr. Risotto did you forget I enjoy a challenge! You better believe I’ll be back!

Now for the great part. I got some trinkets for my home office, narrowed down my color palate, designed new jewels and completed  few DIY little projects that I’ll be posting  one tomorrow.  Hint: think gold chevron pretty paper.

Now for the fashion part of this post. I’ve been wanting to wear this hat but since I live in L.A it would be kinda silly if I wore it on a sunny day although most hats are made for the sun, while in my case it was for a bad hair day and more importantly to keep my head and ears warm.  Then we had this amazing 65 degree weather finally!! I was able to wear Mr. Wool Hat…..  take a peek!

Longing For

25 Jan

TGIF Jewels,

About this time of the year I long for a nice vacation to get away from the cold gray weather just as long as it’s warm enough that I can lie around in a hammock and soak in the sun which I am in much need of.

Glitter, Cheetah And Polka Dots

22 Jan

Hi friends!

This weekend I was doing a bit of research online, magazines, and bit of window shopping for inspiration for new designs. Trust me, you will go bananas, I was inspired by classic pieces your used to seeing: Cow hide; abalone, and stones, but just like we said before, we love to keep our style classic but giving it a little unexpectedness and asymmetry is what makes us over the top ecstatic. Stay tuned!

Starting Off the New Year on the Right Foot

18 Jan

Happy Friday,

I am not going to ramble about a list we have put together for goals, New Year resolutions etc., but I will tell you one thing we are starting off on the right foot.

I am volunteering at the Detroit Artist Market (DAM) tonight for a fashion show for local artist they put together yearly which gives me the opportunity to network with other artist, plus I am giving back to the community and having fun doing it. We have our first event this year tomorrow: Putting on the Glitz in Royal Oak, MI. I am also scheduled to learn a new jewelry technique in March. And as my sister mentioned that we are super excited about our upcoming event in March in L.A. Arboretum, in which she has also been learning new techniques for.

Now for the personal I made my first appointment for a microdermabrasion treatment, and I am thinking of whitening my teeth too.

Unfortunately I did ramble, but hopefully with our right foot forward the year will continue to be productive. Hope you are all starting off the New Year on the right foot as well.

Have a lovely weekend Beautiful Jewels,
Monica

Thursday Treat

17 Jan

Good morning Jewels,

It may look like all I eat are sweets, however you would be surprised that my diet is very consistent, a lot of veggies most of the time raw, almonds, a variety of different teas, berries, chicken, salmon etc., unfortunately it is the sweet stuff that inspires me to make it.
