Metalics Or Leather

17 Oct

What I’m looking forward to this season is metallic and leather!! Metallic hues needn’t be restricted to party outfits as this trend is surprisingly wearable and can be dressed up or down. Two words of advice, keep accessories to a minimal and wear metallic with nude. On the other side, leather if not worn with caution can be seen as a little too sexy, try wearing leather with classic pieces as this will tone down the look but still giving it some edge. Hope you enjoyed my tips. Take a peek!

Lets Talk Make-Up Organization

16 Oct

Hi friends!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend! This past weekend was another hot scorching one, everyday I get so excited and find myself eying my sweaters, tights, scarves, boots the list goes on with no luck since the weather has literally been trending in the 90’s. One of the many reasons I moved to LA was because of the weather so I’m definitely not complaining. As seasons’ change we immediately think to clean or organize our closets, but what about our make-up. As I hate to admit I have been one of those people who fall in that category, until my organizer came to the rescue. Take a peek.

Away From Home

12 Oct

TGIF Jewels,

I have been away from home for nearly two weeks and although I have enjoyed my stay with my family and friends, and the beautiful state of California I am missing being away from home, and here are a couple of things I am missing.

The leaves changing colors.

Our complex is surrounded by bushes, creeks, and trees which means I am constantly greeted by bunnies, birds, turtles, on occasion skunks, and a lot of scrounging squirrels. I usually complain about the scrounging squirrels but these days I am missing them too.

If you have followed our blog you know how I feel about white bedding in order for me get a good night sleep I like to sleep in white bedding preferably 1000 count Egyptian cotton.

Our dog Mocha buried in her bed next to our bed.

And finally my little family, which also include our plants because we treat them like part of the family they have grown several feet since we bought them. I also hate to admit that I am missing tripping over my husband’s slippers which he leaves in front of the door and I constantly get on his case about.

I had to capture a moment of my husband and Mocha gazing into each other (which happens quite often) before I left.

Unfortunately, I can’t be in two places at the same time, but I truly believe I am where I am supposed to be which is in Michigan, however, California will always be home.

Hope you all have exciting plans ahead of you for the weekend, I will be celebrating harvest at the Rancho Sisquoc Winery I can’t wait to share photos.

DIY Moisterizing Facial

11 Oct

Happy Thursday Lovelies,

Now that the weather has cooled off and it is somewhat drier my face suffers, and although I have a naturally matte look my skin tends to get drier during the fall/winter months. One of my favorite facials during the fall/winter seasons is one you can do at home yourself.

The essentials:

A ripe banana

A cucumber (optional I cut up slices and put them over my eyes).

The finished product.

I followed the instructions here.

I have had several facials at high-end spas, but for some reason I notice more of a difference with the facials I do at home.

I hope you give it a try as it has become essential for my beauty regimen.

Until next time,

Purring In Stripes

10 Oct

I hope you are all having a wonderful Wednesday,

As much as I like to color block I like to mix prints, only I like mixing three prints at a time, or three colors.

I love this time of the year when the leaves are transitioning, and the weather is cooler making it perfect for different textures of clothing, while I love summer, clothes is much more limited and mainly consisting of cotton and silk.

Wayfarer: Ray Ban, turquoise earrings essentjewels, striped blouse J.Crew, belt J.Crew, bag Burberry, leopard skirt Rachel Roy, forest green Loafers Gucci, polish essie no more film

Until next time Jewels,

Follup-up to Fall Essentials

9 Oct

I would like to thank my sister for inspiring me to do this post ( Hi sister ). As mentioned in yesterday’s post, here are my fall must have. In most cases when we think of fall we think of jewel toned hues, but this time around no need to put your brights away. Brights were all over the Paris run way so don’t be afraid to add a punch of color whether in gloves, hats or lips.

Back to my fall must have, take a peek.

Assorted wine colored polishes.

Tracey Feith Leather biker jacket. I’m a big fan of the ” tough/romantic look.” I’ll be wearing this with lace, florals, dainty dresses, and more.

Robbi & Nikki (Neiman Marcus ) skirt I’ll be wearing all season long.

Fun gloves I bought in Italy.

Sneek peek how I’ll be wearing them.

Alice & Olivia fur Cardigan.

Hope you enjoyed them.

As always,
Carolina xoxo

Quality Time

5 Oct

TGIF Jewels,

As mentioned in yesterday’s post that I flew to California to spend time with my family. Other then my lovely sister Carolina I also have an older sister Iliana, and our mom of course and this is exactly what I have been doing since I arrived here spending good old quality time with both.

I went shopping with mom yesterday and she had to buy a new jar of pickles and pack of cookies because I have been munching on them since I have arrived, and she says to me “mi hija (Spanish for: my daughter) you have not changed, I often remember you as a child standing in the kitchen with a pickle in one hand and a cookie in the other munching away on both.” And til this day I love both!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead of you, as you all already know what I have been doing and will be doing, spending good old quality time with all my family. I can’t think of any better way to enjoy the weekend.

Until next time,

Essential Traveling Attire

4 Oct

Happy Thursday Jewels,

I am visiting my family in California this week and because I fly from Michigan to California several times a year I pretty much have mastered the traveling process.

I like to travel with my thick outdoor Burberry Scarf because I could use it as a blanket while I am flying if need be, plus it smells like my perfume which is much better then the blankets they give you on the plane it will also come in handy when I fly back home as the weather is very unpredictable this time of the year.

I also like to travel with my Ray Ban Aviators so that I don’t have to worry about my eye make-up when I land, however my lipstick is another story I always make sure I have it my purse to put on when I land, it literally brightens my face. I especially like a darker lipstick because red can be somewhat overbearing. I also like to travel with an open bag like this Wilshire Louis Vuitton it is big enough to hold all my essentials. My navy blue Banana Republic blazer becomes a staple for many of my looks, and a silk tank underneath in case I get hot I can take the blazer off silk tank: CHACOK.

My black skinnies by Paige are super comfortable and although I am wearing jeans since they are black they tend to look dressier, and last but not least my Cole Haan loafers in their Italian collections, I literally feel like I am wearing my house slippers and I can’t imagine wearing anything not comfortable while I am traveling, one thing I hate is to be uncomfortable because I become miserable, and no one likes to be around a miserable person.

I hope you find these tips useful for your next travels.

Off to the airport,
