Caprese Salad

30 May

I kid you not, I’m the most inexpensive date ever. Take me out, and I’ll get a Caprese.  I love Caprese Salad so much it actually hurts. I love it as a main dish salad, I love it as a side dish with chicken, I love it as an appetizer, I love it as a snack. Caprese is truly heaven and a perfect combination of flavors, it’s fresh and refreshing. I love anything with vinegar, but this salad is exquisite. I made it  this past Sunday for dinner. We opted for a light one since we had a heavy brunch.

If your near by Santa Barbara it’s a must to go olive oil tasting in Los Olivos. I got an olive oil infused with basil and this balsamic infused with lemon I used on my salad, trust me, good olive oil goes a long way.

Total Loveliness.

I got this recipe here, Gourmet Girl

Keeping it Chic With The Other Boyfriend and Middle Eastern Pastries

29 May

Hello Jewels,

For my date with the other boyfriend I wanted to keep it simple and chic, because I did not want him to think I was trying too hard.

The other boyfriend: Boyfriend Blazer in navy blue Banana Republic, belt J.Crew, shorts, H&M.

Aviators: Ray-Bans, moccasins Coach, these are almost as comfortable as my Cole Haan with Nike Air.

The date with the other boyfriend consisted of over indulging with Middle Eastern Pastries at my favorite Middle Eastern pastry shop Shatila and of course I always get overwhelmed about their selection because I want everything!

But we always get the usual: The Egyptian Nabulseya Coarse because it is warm, drizzled with crumbled pistachios and oozing  melting cheese (I could so have some now)!!!

Middle Eastern pastries are all about pistachios, which means we never pass up the pistachio ice-cream.

I  am a big fan of Cannolis and I had been tempted before to try the Middle Eastern version of the Cannoli. I was so curious that I didn’t use the fork or knife, (please don’t be disappointed) it was not bad, but I will stick to my usual: Nabulseya Coarse.

And that was my date with the other boyfriend, shhh please don’t tell my husband.

Necklace: chic, by essentjewels.

Until next time my friends,

Shop Your Closet

28 May

Who says you can’t wear the same garment twice? Not I!  I’ll be honest, in the past  I was one to buy something new for every outing, until I realized it’s all about intermixing and shopping my closet. Several months ago while packing a few items to visit my family in Santa Barbara county I came across an “ah ha” moment, a realization that  there are so many options just by intermixing a few items. The feeling I always yearned for when I rushed out and bought new clothes was the same, fresh, new and crisp. I wore this button down shirt with my work slacks, here, now I wore it over a fitted dress. Take a peek.  I was a little colorless on top, so guess where I added a pop of color? Yup, my shoes!

Sunnies: Cole Haan, button down: Zara, dress: French Connection, purse: Marc by Marc Jacob, shoes: Tory Burch. Jewlery: essentjewels.

Just enough color. Going bananas for the glittery silver simple detail.

Today is a casual day. Hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

As always, Carolina xoxo

Have A Great Memorial Weekend

25 May

We’re headed to the Cove

And we’re taking the essentials! Multipurpose beach bag. Pillows, huge mat and a caddy for snacks.

A Frisbee to get some exercise in, clips for hair, sunscreen and my favorite genuine Cuban summer hat I got in Napa Valley.

My beach towel that reminds me of my trip to Espana.

The beach can get cold during the evening, so I’m lugging my Hugo Boss jean jacket I got in New York.

Have a blessed, fun and safe weekend!

As always Carolina, xoxo

Five Traveling Essentials

24 May

With Memorial Weekend around the corner it was essential to post about traveling essentials.

A durable weatherproof tote bag that will transform your comfy outfit from casual to chic: Burberry

Weatherproof hardside silhouette luggage unique enough to identify at baggage claim and also compliments your tote bag, this one is 28 inches in burgundy by Samsonite.

A travel jewelry bag with as many compartments as possible: J.Crew

A clear travel bag making it easy for security to view so that your beauty supplies aren’t ransacked.

Sephora Express Nail Polish Remover for when you have to change your nail polish. I have found this solution to remove my red polish pretty quickly, hence why it is called “Express” and it smells nice too.

Jewels, what are some travel essentials that we are missing? We would love to know so that we can make our travels as convenient as possible.

Thank you for stopping by,

The Classic Jean Jacket

23 May

It was way back in junior high that I received my first jean jacket, the brand was Jordache and it was pink with some lace intermixed and guess what?  Mom bought me me the matching jeans too! I was so thrilled, I couldn’t sleep that night excited to wear them the next day. Oh boy how fashion has changed! I bet my sister is smiling remembering me wearing this outfit, hi sister! These days, one only wears a jean jacket as an added layer or to tone down an otherwise feminine or sophisticated look. Ive been seeing the Jean Jacket make it’s come back. So I ditched my pink Jordache  and I have now upgraded to a more up to date version. Meet my newest member to my closet! My Hudson jean jacket! I love this jacket, I believe it’s perfect for spring as spring can be bi-polar sometimes. It’s light enough for sunny days but just enough to keep me warm as well. Here is how I’ve been wearing it.

Jacket: Hudson, White T: James Purse, Skirt: Cynthia Rolly, Belt: Ann Taylor: Shoes: Michael Kors, Earrings: essentjewels similar here. Scarf: Random, Watch: Marc Jacob, Sunnies: Coach

This look is casual but the airy maxi skirt gives it a feminine touch, the jean jacket gives it a casual, scarf gives it a hint of sophistication.

As always, Carolina xoxo

Fishnets and Red Lips

22 May

The unfortunate thing about being married to a Lebanese man is that you will always be late, it is called “Arab Time” and as always we were late to meet our friends. For the night I wanted to wear all black and let my lipstick and essentjewels do all the talking!

Sophie Bracelet: essentjewels

Fishnets: Zappos, patent leather shoes kate spade

And you made us late again(The husband)! Romper Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent

Late and all we still had a lovely time and here I am gazing at the moonlight with our moonlight necklace layered with our elegant necklace.

Thank you for stopping by my friends,

Boyfriend Jeans And A Punch of Color.

21 May

I have been looking endlessly for a good pair of old loose ripped jeans AKA boyfriend jeans, finally I shopped my closet and found some old loose jeans that I’ve been hanging on to.  You mean to tell me you have no old loose jeans ? Well, you see my friends I lost about 15 pounds when I met my husband and I have held on to these suckers because you never know, if you have my eating habits your weight fluctuates, but ideally I had them tucked away for when, God willing, blesses us with a little bambino!

These simple jeans needed a little personality so I gave them a makeover by ripping them up and fraying the edges. I’ll post a DIY boyfriend jeans soon.

Sunnies: Tory Burch, Button up: Ralph Lauren, Jeans: 7 for all mankind, Purse: Kelsi Dagger, Shoes: Nine West, Arm candy Jewelry: essentjewels lipstick: Mac. Morange ( currently my favorite)

As you know by now, I love to intermix my work and causal clothes on most days, I definitely get more out of my wardrobe which ,makes it that more exciting. Wearing a simple loose flirty side bun with a sophisticated button up that I wear to work. Casual jeans, classic pumps that I also wear to work. Fall color purse to soften my punch of color lips and a button up with some dainty jewelry to dress up my jeans.

Dainty layered necklaces. Gold lock:  gift from Tiffany’s & Co. Triangle 18k gold necklace centered with a diamond from our new line!!

Thank you for stopping by

As always, Carolina xoxo
